It was an exciting time for the Edmonton diocese's delegates to the 44th Session of General Synod held recently in London ON.

Posting to social media, Emily Stephen-Garneau, youth delegate for the Edmonton diocese, said her biggest takeaway is the "importance of community. Community in our local parishes, dioceses, and the national church."

Also posting to Facebook, Bishop Stephen said of General Synod, "There was a surprising amount of optimism and love of ministry given the challenges of the church..." Participating with the House of Bishops in the Primatial Election process and the installation of Archbishop Shane Parker as the Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada was also a memorable experience for Bishop Steve. "I don't know how many Primatial Installations I will get to go to in my life, but presumably it won't be a lot. So I really savoured this one."

Watch the September issue of The Messenger for the delegates' reflections and more pictures like these shared by Betty Kaahwa, Emily Stephen-Garneau and Bishop Stephen London of their fellow delegates, including Cathy Armstrong, Bruce Simpson, the Ven. Travis Enright, the Ven. Jordan Haynie Ware, the Very Rev. Alex Meek and the Rev. Canon Scott Sharman.
