A virtual Farewell Service of thanksgiving for Bishop Jane’s extraordinarily welcoming, compassionate, courageous and inspiring episcopal leadership will be hosted by the Very Rev. Alex Meek and All Saints’ Cathedral on Saturday, April 17, at 3 pm. All are invited to watch the live stream of the service on All Saints' YouTube channel, and give thanks for Bishop Jane at a virtual reception, via Zoom (Meeting ID: 880 4849 6440; Passcode 661999), at 4 pm.

In honour of Bishop Jane and her ministry, the Edmonton diocese wishes to gift the Diocese of Buyé with a community water spring improvement project. Bishop Jane met Bishop Sixbert Macumi as a new bishop at Lambeth Conference and, in 2009, the dioceses of Edmonton and Buyé pledged to walk together in Christ. As companion partners, Edmonton’s 50 parishes and Buyé’s 28 parishes nurture and support each other through prayer partnerships and initiatives to foster healthy communities.

Burundi is blessed with an abundance of clean groundwater, but it is difficult for people to access the water without contamination. Each improved spring supplies an entire village and reduces waterborne disease, a major cause of illness and death, particularly in children.

“The Anglican Church of Burundi, Diocese of Buyé wishes Bishop Jane a successful new journey with sincere appreciation for her faithful service, her friendship, and the immeasurable difference she has made in the lives of so many in the Diocese of Edmonton, Canada, and worldwide,” says Bishop Sixbert Macumi. “She will always be fondly remembered in Burundi. Now, as she starts the next chapter of her life, the Diocese of Buyé takes this opportunity to wish her and her family success in whatever God calls them to now. May God continue to bless them, watch over them, and grant them peace and health now and always. Amen!”
