Jasper Neighbours Encouraged to Share Abundance
Together a community organisation dedicated to helping people access locally grown food and the Anglican parish in Jasper are encouraging neighbours to share the fruits of their labour. “It’s been fantastic to collaborate with Andreas,” says Marissa Kidd, vice-president of the Jasper Local Food Society, who recently partnered with the Rev. Andreas Sigrist, rector of St. George’s and St. Mary’s, to offer the Jasper Veggie Share program. The concept is simple: growers and seekers of fresh produce are invited to the church on Thursday afternoons to give or take fruits and veggies. A Fond Farewell to Fr. Ellis
On Sunday, July 19, members of St. Thomas, Wainwright and St. Mary’s, Edgerton gathered to bid a sad but very fond farewell to the Rev. Ellis Jagoe and his family. Fr. Ellis first came to Wainwright with the military in the late 1980s. He returned 15 years ago and has made it his home since. He has been honourary assistant at both St. Thomas’ and St. Mary’s, and looked after these parishes, in 2013, when they were between rectors. Fr. Ellis is well-loved by parishioners in both churches who have fully enjoyed his presentation of worship and preaching. He is a multi-talented man who shares those talents freely and generously. People were amazed by the number of pies he baked for the Stampede. Not only can he bake, but he cooks, sews, gardens, cans, hunts… We are not sure if there is anything he cannot do. St. Augustine's Parkland Exploring Centralised Online Booking
With churches in the diocese planning how to safely restart in-person worship services, many are wondering how they might implement an orderly and equitable way of controlling how many souls attend and how they are seated. One possible method would be to have a system where parishioners "reserve" places for themselves and those in their cohort. To this end, St. Augustine's Parkland is investigating the implementation of an online booking system. For more infomation visit:
