$5-$5 Ways Campaignstill underway! As of November 4, the Diocese of Edmonton “$5-5 Ways Campaign” has raised just under $2,700 towards the purchase of medical cards in the Diocese of Buyé. This time last year, that amount was $6,565. The idea behind the appeal in past years has been that parishioners could donate an extra five dollars at their Sunday coffee-hour through the month of September. This year, however, parishes haven't gathered for coffee-hours because of COVID-19 restrictions. Many have sent in donations anyway. The Mothers Union in Buyé diocese uses the funds to purchase and distribute cards to those deemed to be in greatest need. The cards are valid for one year and reduce the cost of medical treatment by 80 per cent, putting medical care within reach for many who would otherwise go without. Donations are still being accepted through the Edmonton diocese Synod Office or online at edmonton.anglican.ca/donate. |
