Call for Nominations for Diocesan Search CommitteeDiocese of Edmonton Episcopal Election Executive Council has formed a Diocesan Working Group following Bishop Jane's decision to step down as Bishop of Edmonton on April 16, 2021. As well, the Very Rev. Alexandra Meek has been appointed to be Administrator of the Diocese, from the effective date of Bishop Jane's resignation until the consecration/seating of her successor as Bishop of Edmonton. A timeline for the Episcopal Election, Guidelines for the Election of a Bishop and Provincial Canon IX will be posted to the diocesan website (https://edmonton.anglican.ca/synod/67th-synod), and sent to all clergy, vestries and parishes in the diocese, when Archbishop Greg Kerr-Wilson, Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of Rupert's Land, has issued the notice of an Electoral Synod, likely in mid-March. The working group is now accepting nominations to the Diocesan Search Committee. In addition to the call for nominations, please find attached a letter from the Dean, on behalf of the working group, outlining the process for electing a new Bishop. Executive Council will elect three clergy and three lay members to the Search Committee on March 18, 2021. The Metropolitan will appoint three more members, all drawn from outside the diocese: one bishop, one clergy member and one lay member. Please prayerfully consider who you might wish to nominate to this committee. The Working Group invites vestries and parishes to pray for Bishop Jane and for where God is leading the Diocese of Edmonton at this time. The Working Group will seek to actively engage with parishes across the diocese to listen and report to the search committee the cares, concerns, and hopes of the diocese so they can adequately prepare the diocesan profile. Resources to aid in this prayerful consideration will be sent out in the coming weeks.
