St. David’s Harvest for Edmonton’s Food Bank
Early this summer, St. David’s planted five raised garden beds full of tomatoes, zucchini, beets, carrots and potatoes. Faithful parishioners watered and tended the garden over the hot, dry summer. We were pleased to be able to hand over to the Edmonton’s Food Bank lots of produce! Already we are planning how to improve the garden for next year. Services of Communion and Baptismon the St. John's patio Saturday, October 9 was a special day at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Edmonton. Having participated in preparation together, eight children from five families celebrated their first communion. One little girl, Chizara Iwekpeazu, was baptised. Once again, the patio at St. John’s provided the outdoor setting that, together with social distancing, created a safe space for families to gather. And, happily, the weather cooperated. Clergy (Half) DayThursday, October 14, 2021 Thursday morning, October 14, active clergy of the diocese will gather, on Zoom and in limited numbers at a few in-person venues, for their first opportunity to hear from their new bishop. "It was our great hope that we could have a clergy day in person," says Bishop Steve. "This was both because we are starting a new chapter in our life together, and because in this time of pandemic, we all know the importance of being together. However, circumstances are such right now that we need to practice due caution." Bishop Steve hopes to begin the process of hearing from clergy about what is important to them and to share his vision for the diocese, which continues to develop as he meets each week with more and more of our parishes. |

International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted ChurchSunday, November 7, 2021 Every November, hundreds of thousands of believers across the world join together in prayer for Christians who experience persecution because of their faith in Jesus Christ. This year, the need for prayer seems even more urgent as we witness the challenges faced by millions of Christians around the world. The stories we’re receiving daily from our brothers and sisters living where faith costs the most are clear: your prayers make a difference, helping them stay as a light in the darkness in the toughest places. Sunday November 7, 2021 is International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. Inspired by Hebrews 12:28, this year’s theme is Unshakeable Faith. The countries that we will be particularly focused on praying for are Afghanistan, Algeria, Cuba, and India. For more infomation visit:
