Live streaming or posting videos of your services increases audience outreach and worship accessibility. Fortunately, there are many simple-to-use, free online tools for streaming and posting content!
To live stream or to post online, two of the most common resources are Facebook and YouTube.
Facebook offers live streaming and video posting options that are immediately posted to the parish’s Facebook page and are available for 30 days on the Facebook page for viewing afterwards.
YouTube offers free channels to non-profit organizations. YouTube also adds generated subtitles once the service is archived (usually the day after the live stream), improving accessibility for parishioners who are hard of hearing. YouTube is a Google product, so anyone with a Google account can easily create a YouTube Channel. If you don't have a Google account, it's simple to sign up for one.
Video recording can be done with a phone or tablet. This makes the parish investment as small as a stand to hold the recording device.
If live streaming, do not forget that special streaming permissions may be required. Streaming licenses may be purchased through CCLI or OneLicense.
