Parishioners of St. Aidan and St. Hilda, Rexboro welcomed guests, including members of St. John the Divine, Onoway, for a celebration service and barbeque in honour of St. Aidan and St. Hilda’s 115th Anniversary on Sunday, July 13.
Presiding at the Eucharist service, Bishop Stephen London reflected on the deep commitment of several generations of people who, by working and worshiping together, have and continue to instill hope that the church will flourish.
Rector’s warden and parish historian Bill Sommer shared the story of St. Aidan and St. Hilda, Rexboro. Fred Bryant played the appropriate “Lord, behold us with Thy favor” hymn for anniversary services on the church’s original organ. The final lines, ‘Bid us worship, bid us labour, there, where work and prayer are one’, encapsulate the steadfast faith of this resilient, country church community. Submitted by Mary Lynn Phillips
