Thanks for checking us out on this webpage! We’re a small but active collection of people from various backgrounds who gather each Sunday to come into the presence of God together. We bring our hopes, sorrows, and humanity to this time in community, trusting that we’ll encounter something beautiful about God and one another as we come around Jesus’ table.
Music, prayer, reflection, communion, relationship and service are the values that form our worship and our approach to faith. Some of the folks who come regularly say that they have made St. George’s their home because of the quiet, contemplative, kind ethos that shapes our Sunday mornings. On some Sundays, our music might be led by a local folk musician, on others it might be led by two different extraordinary pianists. You can hear their hearts and the beauty of their spirits and faith in how they lead us in worship. This is true of everyone who offers their time and presence in creating our common worship.
We strive to serve the world that God calls us to love, not as an act of charity, but as an opportunity to experience the presence of God in all people. We are what you might call wildly inclusive: our zoom access is geared to people whose disabilities or life circumstances may not enable them to gather in person. We’ve been a safe harbour for those who have not experienced welcome in other faith traditions for a variety of reasons. Our faith is broad, welcoming, and seeks to incarnate the mercy we experience in Jesus: you’ll meet people here whose faith is steeped in deeply catholic sacramental traditions that bring joy and meaning to their lives, and others who aren’t sure what they believe about the whole enterprise, but they think Jesus is beautiful, and that’s enough. We welcome children in our worship and strive to meet them where they are at, marvelling at how we have much to learn from their faith.
Friend, may you know tenderness and mercy in your life today. May you know the love that exists at the centre of all that is. May you walk in grace through our beautiful, raw world. And may you always know how beautiful and beloved you are in God’s sight.
