Parishes of the dioceses of Athabasca and Edmonton are invited to observe September 21 as Alongside Hope Sunday. As they did last year, diocesan reps are preparing resources, including a sample Order of Service for parishes to use, if they so choose. In the spirit of peaceful dialogue, understanding, reconciliation, and healing, we walk alongside our Indigenous and Métis relations on the Treaty 6 and Treaty 8 Territories, the traditional meeting ground of Cree, Saulteaux, Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Nakota Sioux, Dene, Métis, and Inuit peoples.
