You are invited to share insights, questions, fears, hopes and prayers at Contemplative Prayer, Contemplative Politics: Canadian Election 2025 and Beyond, to be held Tuesday, April 22, 7 pm, at St. Faith's at Lodgepole Communitas, 11725 93 ST NW, Edmonton. Parking in rear parking lot; hall doors open at 6:30 pm.
In preparation for the April 28 federal election, Kristin Binnema, lay leader at St. Faith's, will lead an opening time of contemplative prayer. Jennifer Stewart, who has her PhD in political science and a wealth of lived experience, will offer a short and informal presentation on the 2025 Canadian election, and a refresher on the vitally strong and imperfect institutions that shape our political discourse and action, Constitution, federalism, parliamentary democracy, and on the ways that citizenship and the public sphere remain critical concepts. Kristin and Jennifer are members of the Disability Justice Team for the Edmonton diocese.
"That is the heart of the challenge—what do we believe? What is our ground? What narratives have shaped us and are shaping us? ...It may not be in our power to determine how things will unfold, but it is in our power to decide how we respond. It is in our power to hold on to the practices that nourish us, inform us, and give us courage." Adam Bucko
