Join the Edmonton diocese as we celebrate the return of Fr. Michael Lapsley. The first of Fr. Lapsley's public events will be held at St. Faith Anglican Church, 11725–93 Street NW, Edmonton, on the evening of September 24. Titled "Courageous Conversations," it will be a discussion on reparation, a critical aspect of the ongoing work of reconciliation. All are welcome.
Fr. Lapsley is the Canon for Healing and Reconciliation for the Diocese of Edmonton. Part of the resistance to the apartheid system in South Africa through the 70's and 80's, Fr. Lapsley lost both hands and an eye in a letter bomb attack in Zimbabwe in 1990. He later founded the Institute for Healing of Memories (IHOM) in 1998 to work in parallel with South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The IHOM now works around the world to facilitate healing and reconciliation through a community-based method to discover our common humanity and address wounds and traumas.
