Through the month of August, the parishioners at St. Augustine's Parkland took on a challenge. We registered as competitors in Parkland Food Banks annual Corporate Challenge.
Every year, local businesses throughout Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Parkland County, and Acheson compete to collect assigned non-perishable food items by weight and display them creatively to support families facing food insecurity.
The congregation came together to collect an impressive 163 lbs of dry sides, which the staff at Parkland Food Bank deem a truly remarkable achievement! What makes this accomplishment so special? Dry sides are among the lightest items collected, meaning reaching 163 lbs required a significant number of individual donations. Not only were we the first church ever to sign up to compete against local businesses, but we won! Having the ribbon and plaque are something to be proud of but the real prize is knowing our contributions will make a meaningful impact on the families served by our local Food Bank.
