From the Leduc Family & Community Support Services

You’re warmly invited to join us for a free community learning session:
Becoming Conscious Allies: An Introduction to Sexual and Gender Diversity and Inclusion, presented by the Fyrefly Institute.

This workshop is open to everyone in the community and is designed to be welcoming and accessible, no matter where you are on your allyship journey. Whether you’re just starting out or continuing to build on what you already know, this session offers a respectful and supportive space to learn together.

The session will be led by Star Oldring (they/them) from the Fyrefly Institute. Star is a genderqueer, trans Albertan who brings both lived experience and evidence‑based knowledge, with a focus on building inclusive, caring communities where everyone belongs. (More details about the facilitator are included in the workshop poster.)

What the session will cover:

  • What pronouns are, what they mean, and how to use them respectfully
  • Key 2SLGBTQ+ terminology
  • The foundations of gender identity, gender expression, and sex assigned at birth
  • Common assumptions and myths about the 2SLGBTQIA+ community
  • Practical tools and resources for supporting queer and trans people in our communities

This session is about learning, listening, and growing together in a non‑judgmental environment. Everyone is welcome.
