In general, this fall has been a joyful season for Bishop Stephen London, as he has been invited to join parish communities for momentous celebrations.
On Sunday, September 17, Bishop Steve joined the community of St. Columba, Beaumont, led by the Rev. Stephanie London, rector, for an outdoor celebration of the 40th anniversary of the parish. “… I am excited the parish is looking forward to the next chapter in their life as a Gospel community.”
Two weeks later, on Saturday, September 30, Bishop Steve joined with the Parish of St. Mark-Jiang and the South Sudanese community at All Saints’ Cathedral, in celebrating the Rev. Akon Lual’s ministry in the parish, and his work in connecting the larger community. “There was also an amazing feast afterwards.”
Bishop Steve then made a homecoming of sorts to join with rector the Rev. Canon Chelsy Bouwman in confirming three young people in the faith at St. Thomas, Sherwood Park on October 2. “… it was wonderful to be welcomed back to St Thomas and to get a chance to catch up with people I know well…”
Last Sunday, October 8, Bishop Steve visited Holy Trinity Old Strathcona, Edmonton, led by the Rev. Danielle Key, rector, for the confirmation of Christopher Skuse. “… The music was great; the people were great; the liturgy was great; the coffee time was great. Just a great way to spend a Sunday morning.”
