As of June, the Diocese of Edmonton has been reclassified as a Category C Sponsorship Agreement Holder. 

This means changes for those who are in the sponsorship process.

  • Financially, this means that we are required to have all funds for refugee sponsorship in trust prior to submitting an application. You can calculate the amount required for refugee sponsorship at https://www.rstp.ca/calc/?lang=en
  • We hold the funds in trust at the diocesan office and distribute them directly to the refugee upon their arrival and over the following 12 months.
  • We only accept bank drafts of these funds. We do not accept etransfers.

We are not accepting new applications, and we do not anticipate being able to accept new applications until 2026. We do not keep a waitlist.
