On Common Ground Walkers Set Out on Treaty 6

And they’re off! The Walk for Common Ground set out on Treaty 6 land this afternoon. The first leg of the 15-day journey from Edmonton to Calgary will end at St. Columba Anglican Church in Beaumont where, from 7-9 pm, participants will facilitate a community treaty teaching session followed by a talking circle. In the spirit of peaceful dialogue, understanding, reconciliation, and healing, we walk alongside our Indigenous and Métis relations on the Treaty 6 and Treaty 8 Territories, the traditional meeting ground of Cree, Saulteaux, Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Nakota Sioux, Dene, Métis, and Inuit peoples.
