St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church and Vegreville United Church, co-hosted Vegreville’s 2nd Annual Community Nativity Festival on December 1 and 2. More than 200 beautiful nativities and dozens of angels, produced in numerous countries around the world, were displayed. The items were made from various materials, including wood, glass, fabric, banana fibre, clay, stone, corn husks, porcelain, and the list goes on!
It was spectacular to see and learn about how Christians everywhere celebrate the birth of Jesus. There was live and recorded music in the background, and a Carol Sing-along both days, as well. Refreshments were available. There was even a little room of interactive nativity sets that young and old could play with!
Admission to the festival was free, and we asked people to consider donating to the Vegreville Food Bank. And our community stepped up to support this worthy organisation and the people they assist. We were thrilled to welcome guests from Edmonton, Bruderheim, Ardrossan, Mannville, Sherwood Park, as well as other small towns in our area. Plans are already underway for the next Community Nativity Festival and we hope to see you there! Submitted by Lisa Topilko
