Confirmations in Buyé
On Sunday July 28, Bigombo parish in Buyé hosted a confirmation service. Three parishes - Bigombo, Kabanga and Gitobe - gathered to celebrate the confirmation of 274 candidates! News comes from Buyé diocesan secretary, the Rev. Dominique Ciza, who says he was “extremely surprised” to see this number. He says the church (which is 10 x 25 metres) was not big enough to hold the “huge congregation,” so they held the service in a nearby building that is under construction and is an extra 10 metres in length. $5 - 5 Ways - 5 SundaysSupport a Medical Initiative in Buyé It's back! Last year's September Coffee Fundraiser was so successful, we've decided to do it again. POSTER The Mothers' Union in our sister diocese of Buyé launched an amazingly practical initiative in 2018, helping senior citizens and less advantaged families to get a medical card, which gives them 80% medical coverage for a full year. The card costs about $5, but that is out of reach for many of the people who need it most. For more infomation visit:

St. Luke's OEW Team Returns Home!
St. Luke’s team of three intrepid travelers has returned from a week-long bible camp with On Eagle’s Wings in Fort Simpson, NWT. What a difference from the same trip last year to Fort Liard! Fort Simpson is about three times the size of Fort Liard. There are approximately 1,200 residents and three churches. Interestingly, fewer children (a total of 15) came to the Fort Simpson VBS this year. Twenty-four came out in Fort Liard. The team puts this down to the work of one person, Rosie, in Fort Liard, who made it her personal mission to invite every child in the area. The interaction with the Fort Simpson children was very good. Even more so, however, this year the team felt the value of being in this small community to encourage the church and its leaders. Adult Christian Education EventChrist Church, Edmonton - Thursday, August 15, 2019 Christ Church, 12116 102 Ave, Edmonton, will host an evening of presentations and discussion on issues of faith, law, and society featuring international scholars and local legal experts on August 15, 7-9 pm. Our event is based on the experience of John Bunyan, a 17th century writer imprisoned for his religious beliefs and practices. He wrote the great Christian classic The Pilgrim’s Progress from prison.
