Prayer and Grief SupportSt. George's, Edmonton In response to the tragic event of the UIA crash and the loss of so many of our fellow Edmontonians, students, and staff at the U of A, the parish of St. George’s, 11733-87 Ave, are providing a quiet space for prayer and grief support daily, from 9am - 3pm, for the week of Jan 13-17, and as needed thereafter. Morning Prayer will also be held at 8:30am each day in the chapel. If you would like access to the church after these hours, please call the church office at 780-439-1470 or email Rev. Clergy RetreatSoul, Snow and Silence: Grace at the Edge of Wilderness Canon Dr. Richard LeSueur will lead this year's clergy retreat from January 28-30, 2020 at Star of the North Retreat Centre. This retreat is mandatory for clergy as they otherwise often don't have time for much needed space and quiet reflection. Ministry of Presence in EdmontonInner City Pastoral Ministry (ICPM) Seeking Full-time Pastor The Inner City Pastoral Ministry (ICPM) is an inter-denominational Christian ‘ministry of presence’ for inner city people. Partners in ICPM are members of Lutheran, Anglican, Roman Catholic and United Church denominations. The current pastor retires on May 31, 2020, thus, a full-time position is available for an ordained minister on May 31 or earlier. The pastor oversees the overall direction of the ICPM mission, objectives, and goals. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the pastor provides spiritual leadership and pastoral care largely among adults living within the urban core of Edmonton. Invitation to Bannock and a Movie: The Long Ride Home DocumentaryNukskahtowin (Meeting Place) January 24, 11:50 am-1:00 pm All are invited to the January instalment of Bannock and a Movie to be held at Nukskahtowin (Meeting Place) at Athabasca University, Peace Hills Trust Tower, 10011-109 Street (12th Floor, Room 1222). This is a public event featuring a screening of the Steve Haining (2013) documentary film The Long Ride Home on January 24, from 11:50 am to 1:00 pm. In the film a brave group of Indigenous people leave on a nomadic horseback journey that is 600 kms long. Powered only by their Spirit and tradition they attempt to spark change, bring awareness of the Missing Indigenous women, 60s Scoop survivors and bring their children home. For more infomation visit:

This service will feature the Bread of Life liturgical sculpture, a Black Water Reflecting Pool, prayer stations, meditative time, open art tables, and the extensive use of original symbols, rituals, and imagery. The Eucharistic liturgy allows worshipers to embody the theme through a unique sacramental ritual of enduring quality and significance. St. Patrick's to Host Ecumenical Prayer ServiceWeek of Prayer for Christian Unity Service, January 19, 7 pm Bishop Jane Alexander will preach at the Edmonton and District Council of Churches (EDCC) Week of Prayer for Christian Unity prayer service to be held Sunday, January 19, 7 pm, at St. Patrick’s Anglican Church, 334 Knottwood Road North, (one block south of 23rd Avenue on 85 Street), Edmonton. The theme, “They showed us unusual kindness” (Acts 28:2), remembers the historic shipwreck of Paul on the island of Malta and calls us to a greater generosity to those in need; moving us from shared prayer to shared action. Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in St. PaulSt. Paul and Area Inter-church Group Services - Monday, January 20, 2020 St. John the Baptist, St. Paul will be hosting Day 3 (January 20), "Hope," of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Every year, member churches of the vibrant, supportive, and community-focused St. Paul and Area Inter-Church Group participate in the Week of Prayer. This year's theme, taken from Acts 28:2 "They showed us unusual kindness," calls Christians to show greater generosity to those in need. People are invited to attend any or all of the services, held at a different church from January 16-25, and experience other Christian traditions. The offertory collection from these services will help enhance Extendicare programming in St. Paul. Extendicare is a longterm care facility for residents of St. Paul residents ranging in age from 20 to 103. Previous year's donations have gone to Camp Sunshine (a summer camp for children experiencing grief), Columbus House of Hope (a women's shelter), and youth mental health awareness. St. Faith's Deacon Publishes Book of Jesus-centered Reflections
The Rev. Dr. Adenike Yesufu, a vocational deacon at St. Faith’s, Edmonton, has recently published a book titled Exploring Jesus in the Bible. The book includes a Foreword message by Dr. David Williams, President, Taylor Seminary, Professor of Theology and Ethics, Director E. P. Wahl Centre. Public Conversation about Young Adults and Faith
A public conversation about young adults and faith will be held at The King's University on Wednesday, January 15, from 7-9 pm. Rick Hiemstra, co-author of the Renegotiating Faith report, will share the findings of his research, followed by a panel discussion. Anyone interested in youth identity formation, including people working with young adults and young adults themselves, is welcome and encouraged to participate. Information Evening: Presence 2020Providence Renewal Centre, Jan 22, 7-8:30 pm An Information Evening to learn more about "Presence: Called in Love Sent to Serve" will be held Wednesday, January 22, 7:00 – 8:30 pm, at Providence Renewal Centre. It will be an opportunity to learn about possibilities and expectations, meet the Leadership Team and Core Faculty, talk to past participants and ask questions. Presence 2020 is a two-year, part-time spiritual formation program, in the Christian tradition, designed for personal spiritual growth and to train individuals for the ministry of spiritual direction. Retreat on Lake Como Italy
