Mass Diocesan Discernment an All-Hands-on-Deck Approach to Decision-Making
Listening in Spirit engagement consultant Anna Bubel often hears this kind of statement as she meets with parishes in the Diocese of Edmonton. The conversations Anna is leading are part of an overall strategy to help stabilise our diocese while the church adapts to its new realities. Bishop Stephen London says the COVID pandemic greatly impacted church attendance and giving.

Military Ordinariate and Edmonton Diocese Welcome Deacons and Chancellor
The Anglican Diocese of Edmonton celebrated the ordination of two deacons and the installation of its chancellor on Pentecost Sunday, May 19, 2024, at All Saints’ Anglican Cathedral in Edmonton. Helen Chan Bennett and Christa Eisbrenner were ordained as deacons by the Rt. Rev. Nigel Shaw and the Rt. Rev. Stephen London, respectively. For more infomation visit:

Archbishop Linda Nicholls Participates in Anglican Foundation of Canada Evensong
Days after participating in ecumenical talks in France, the Most Rev. Linda Nicholls, Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, preached at Evensong, at All Saints’ Cathedral, Edmonton, on May 22. The early evening service, featuring the beautiful voices of the Cathedral Choir and guests, led by Jeremy Spurgeon, All Saints’ Music Director, was offered by the Anglican Foundation of Canada (AFC) before its annual general meeting. The Rt. Rev. Stephen London, who was invited to meetings earlier in the day to speak about recent AFC-supported projects in the Diocese of Edmonton, also took part in the service, as did the Most Rev. Anne Germond, Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario who will serve as acting Primate when Nicholls retires on September 15th ahead of her 70th birthday.

Diocesan Communicators' Conference Convenes at Home of Anglican Church in Canada
Every spring, often in the same week as Pentecost Sunday, Anglican communicators from across Canada come together in person, or virtually on Zoom, for a time of learning and rejuvenation. Members of the Anglican Editors’ Association (AEA) met from May 16 to 18 at the home of the Anglican Church in Canada (ACC) on Hayden Street in downtown Toronto. Many representatives of national church communications and the Anglican Journal joined the conference as presenters and participants. A noon-hour Eucharist in the Chapel of the Holy Apostles was presided over by ACC General Secretary the Ven. Alan Perry, who formerly served as executive archdeacon for the Diocese of Edmonton.

The Diocese of Edmonton is a GEA member organization and participation is free for all Anglicans. This training is for those who share an interest in strengthening civil society and working together for the common good. Harmonia ConcertSunday, June 9, 2 pm, St. Matthew's, St. Albert Harmonia, a seven-piece string and wind ensemble, will perform a free-will offering concert at St. Matthew's, 125 Larose Dr, St. Albert, on June 9, at 2 pm. Harmonia has travelled through Europe performing in prestigious locations such as St. Patrick's Cathedral (Dublin) and Kylemore Abbey. The group plays a blend of well-known tunes including movie and show tunes, Gordon Lightfoot and Bob McMullin compositions. The group rounds out its set with popular tunes such as "Stairway to Heaven" and "Can't Help Falling in Love with You." The concert admission is free with a plate for donations at the door. Pack Your Bags for Clergy Camp
The first-ever Clergy Camp, a time for clergy to relax and gather through un-conference activities, will be held June 11 to 13 at Star of the North Retreat Centre in St. Albert. Facilitated by Julianne Gilchrist., who lives in Edmonton, is ordained through the Presbyterian Church (PCUSA), and has worked in campus ministry and is a spiritual director, camp will provide space to process unspoken fears about our future, the sustainability of our ministries and the changes that we are navigating as a church. 9th Annual Steak and Lobster Festin support of Anglican/United VBS - Saturday, June 15, 5 pm St. Mary's Anglican Church, 5120 49 Ave, Ponoka, is hosting its 9th Annual Steak and Lobster Fest on Saturday, June 15. Doors open at 5 pm. Prices are $55 for lobster dinner; $35 for steak dinner, or $80 for steak and lobster. Journey Down Church Street with KororaMay 25, 3 pm Journey, the Korora “choir crawl,” is back for a fifth edition. In what has become an annual season-end tradition, all seven Korora Choirs (plus our traditional guests the Braille Tones) will spread out Saturday, May 25 along Edmonton’s Church Street Heritage Area. “We’re wrapping up an outstanding season for all our choirs,” said Korora’s Artistic Director Scott Leithead. “Journey is such a great opportunity to sample favourite repertoire from every ensemble while exploring some gorgeous historic venues along Church Street. It’s a mini-festival and a local sightseeing trip in one.” Audience members can check in before 3 pm at either end of Church Street—St John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10759 96 St, or The Rock, 11004 96 St N, pick up a map and program and then choose their own paths through the various performance venues, all within easy walking distance.
