Pronouns Workshop Demonstration of Courageous Justice

Pronouns Workshop Demonstration of Courageous Justice

In the light of inclusion, (part of our baptismal vows of respecting the dignity of every human being, and a priority of A Way Through the Wilderness workplan), a small group of people from several parishes and ministries of the Edmonton diocese gathered at St. Luke’s Anglican Church on Saturday morning, June 14, for The Pronouns Workshop.

The Pronouns Workshop, the first of its kind in the diocese, is “part of several things we're doing this year to celebrate pride and to continue our commitment to the public, intentional and explicit affirmation of 2SLGBTQ+ Anglicans and others in our community,” said the Ven. Jordan Haynie Ware, Archdeacon for Justice.

The Queerly Beloved group, a subcommittee of the Social Justice Committee, is also gearing up to march in the Edmonton Pride Parade on August 23.

“We would love to have it be as big a group as possible. And so please do make sure that you save that date,” she said.

National Indigenous Day of Prayer Resources

National Indigenous Day of Prayer Resources

As we draw nearer to the National Indigenous Day of Prayer, commemorated on June 21, we invite you to explore the Indigenous Ministries resource section of the diocesan website.

Collect of the Day

Creator God,
from you every family in heaven and earth takes its name.
You have rooted and grounded us
in your covenant love,
and empowered us by your Spirit
to speak the truth in love,
and to walk in your way towards justice and wholeness.
Mercifully grant that your people,
journeying together in partnership,
may be strengthened and guided
to help one another to grow into the full stature  of Christ,
who is our light and our life. Amen

Websites integral to parish communication strategy

Building a new website or updating your website this summer? For most of us, the internet is an integral part of daily life. A functional website is an important tool for a parish. A simple website with service times and contact information is essential for an effective parish communication strategy.

Fortunately, it has never been easier to build and maintain a website. Many people still believe that some coding experience is required, but many online web-building tools only require text entry (no coding at all!!).

Resilience Fund to aid refugees in Tanzania, malnourished children in Burundi and survivors of gender-based violence in Uganda

Do you know that part of Alongside Hope's (formerly PWRDF) work is fostering healthy communities through a Resilience Fund, established in response to the US government's discontinuation of USAID? A generous donor had pledged a $250,000 matching gift to the Resiliency Fund.

Alongside Hope needs to raise $42,000 by June 30 to unlock the matching grant. Your support will be doubled to help refugees in Tanzania, malnourished children in Burundi and survivors of gender-based violence in Uganda.

Help Alongside Hope reach the finish line—give now or share this bulletin insert with your parish. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our neighbours around the world.
