Please Pray for Repose of the Soul of the Rev. Tom Dean

Sadly, we have learned that the Rev. Tom Dean died last night, at the age of 72, after a brief illness.

We hold the Dean family in our prayers, and also request your prayers for the repose of the soul of Tom, a retired priest of the Edmonton diocese.

Most recently, Tom had served as an honorary assistant at Good Shepherd, Edmonton, for more than a decade. 

Ordained a deacon in 2007 by Bishop Victoria Matthews, Tom completed summer internships as a hospital chaplain (University of Alberta), and at St. Aidan and St. Hilda, Rexboro, and St. Luke’s, Edmonton.

He was ordained a priest in 2009 by Bishop Jane Alexander, and served as rector of St. John the Divine, Onoway, and as interim priest at St. Mary Abbots’, Barrhead. He also served as chaplain at the Gunn Centre.

Details of the funeral service for Tom Dean will be forthcoming.

Loving and merciful God,
We entrust our brother Tom to your mercy.
You loved him greatly in this life; 
Now that he is freed from all his cares,
Give him happiness and peace forever. 
The old order has passed away;
Welcome him into paradise 
Where there will be no more sorrow,
No more weeping or pain,
But only peace and joy 
With Jesus, Your Son,
And the Holy Spirit,
For ever and ever,
Amen.
