June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day

The Synod Office will be closed on Friday, June 21 in observance of National Indigenous Peoples Day. There are many ways individuals and parishes can reflect on the importance of reconciliation such as attending a community gathering (City of Edmonton events), reviewing the TRC Calls to Action watching the Stolen Lands, Strong Hearts documentary, learning about the history of the land we are on at www.native-land.ca, and by checking out the Indigenous Ministries page of the diocesan website for more resources.

In the spirit of peaceful dialogue, understanding, reconciliation, and healing, we walk alongside our Indigenous and Métis relations on the Treaty 6 and Treaty 8 Territories, the traditional meeting ground of Cree, Saulteaux, Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Nakota Sioux, Dene, Métis, and Inuit peoples.
