The Social Justice Committee of the Edmonton diocese is holding a Youth Day Social Justice Day on November 16, at St. John the Evangelist, 11111 57 Ave NW, Edmonton, from noon to 6 pm. This is a day for young people of every faith and those seeking to learn more about how our Christian faith compels us to transform the unjust structures of society.

Young people, ages 13 to 30, will have the opportunity to engage with first-voice advocates and leaders in communities forging the way towards racial justice, queer justice, economic justice, environmental justice, prison justice and disability justice. And we will explore how these concerns overlap and intersect, finding commonalities and shared inspiration for change.

As well, there will be a panel discussion on advocating for systems and structural change (in law, public policy, human rights, and public services), and an exploration of how to bring change.

Young people will have the opportunity to learn about and engage with these topics, share their ideas, and envision social justice in their futures.

We are calling youth to reflect on our call as Christians to be attentive to and participate in the work of social justice and to join in community outreach and partnerships.

We are inspired by the passion and commitment of our young people to share their voices and envision new ways to respond to cries for social justice in our communities and in the world.

All young people are welcome to this fully accessible event, to be held at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 11111 – 57 Avenue, Edmonton. In addition to the presentations, there will be time to meet and get to know each other, musical interludes and snacks.
