Buye Diocese Celebrates Pediatric Ward Opening

Diocese of Buyé Bishop Sixbert Macumi, the staff of Buyé hospital, administration leaders and community members celebrated the official opening of the pediatric ward at Buyé hospital on November 3, 2018.  

The work that has resulted from the partnership of Buyé and Edmonton dioceses, such as the new pediatric ward and Kiziba water spring, the extension of the maternity ward, an HIV/AIDS clinic, are but a few of the recent projects improving the holistic wellbeing of people in Burundi, said the Rev. Dominique Ciza, Buyé Diocesan Secretary.  

The pediatric ward will help save the lives of many children. It is hoped that the companion dioceses can continue to work together on healthcare initiatives, such as medical cards which provide recipients with an 80 per cent discount on healthcare-related expenses.
