When was the last time you updated your church directory?

It is recommended that every parish complete directory maintenance annually or every second year, as databases are only useful if continuously maintained. Database information is both useful for keeping in touch with parishioners and is required to submit the diocesan statistics.

Church members may forget to notify the parish of changes of address, phone numbers, or email, so asking all members to submit those items annually (even if they have not changed) ensures the directory is kept current. This also allows the parish to easily identify families/individuals they have not heard from in a while, enabling a clergy member or parish volunteer to reach out.
