Education for Ministry (EfM) is a four-year theological education program for lay people (participants commit to one year (36 weeks) at a time). EfM helps the faithful encounter the breadth and depth of the Christian tradition and bring it into conversation with their experiences of the world as they study, worship and engage in theological reflection together. It is an ideal course for Christians who want to deepen their faith and enhance their knowledge of the Bible, the history of Christianity and Christian ethics.

There is a nominal cost of $350 for the year. Learn More

Why did I enroll in EfM?

I enrolled in EfM because I love to learn and want to deepen my faith. To my surprise and delight, I have both learned and made connections with people in my group. I've been inspired to see things differently which has affected my day-to-day life.

In what ways has EfM enriched my faith?

Learning about the history of the Old and New Testaments; what was going on in the world at the time, and how the original audience would have received the texts, has given me a great degree of perspective. This knowledge helps me to put individual verses into their proper context, leading to what I think is a more nuanced and mature understanding of the holy texts. Deep discussion of and reflection on the Word has provided insight into how I can live my life as a person of faith in this place and time.

Why do I recommend EFM?

I recommend EFM because it’s helped me become a more knowledgeable, mature and loving person. It's a great way to connect with others who are committed to exploring their faith and discerning how God is calling us to make a difference in our beautiful, broken world.
