The Diocesan Search Committee has released the Diocesan Profile. This memorandum is both for those prayerfully discerning a call to be Bishop of Edmonton and for all Synod Delegates as we pray together and prepare for our next Bishop. All are encouraged by Diocesan Administrator, the Very Rev. Alexandra Meek, to "read through this document and to prayerfully consider if there is anyone you feel might be called to serve as the 11th Bishop of Edmonton."

As we move forward towards our electoral synod, some important dates include:

  • May 13, 2021: Clergy Day
  • May 15, 2021: Town Hall for Lay Synod Delegates (see paragraph below)
  • May 16, 2021: The final day to submit a proposal for nomination to the search committee
  • May 29, 2021: The final day for proposed nominees to submit all supporting documents to the search committee
  • June 12, 2021: The final date by which the Administrator must share the proposed list of nominees to the synod delegates.

In preparation for our upcoming electoral synod, the Rev. Canon Dr. Scott Sharman, our diocesan Canon Theologian, will lead us in an online Synod Formation Day. The purpose of this digital gathering will be to receive some inspiration and reflection, and to pray and converse together, as we seek to prepare ourselves as a diocese to call, receive, and join the next bishop of Edmonton as partners in our shared ministry.

A session for lay delegates to synod and other interested members of the order of the laity will take place, via Zoom, on Saturday, May 15, from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm (with a 1-hour lunch/stretch break from 12 noon to 1:00 pm).
Meeting ID: 834 9173 4685
Passcode: 930402
Find your local number: https://us02web.zoom.us/u/kDtBK8YoS

The presentation portion of the session will be recorded for those who are unable to participate in the live session.

Further details regarding preparation for a virtual synod on June 26, 2021, will be provided closer to the date.
