Many people came to know and love Charis St. Pierre when she worked in the Synod Office as Bishop Jane’s assistant. Charis is a gifted writer and, while raising two young sons with her husband Josh St. Pierre, she wrote her first children's book. She will debut Welcome, Dark at Audreys Books, 10702 Jasper Ave, Edmonton, on September 17, 2 pm. This poetic picture book, illustrated by Rachel Wada and published by Orca, invites young readers “to explore the sounds of nighttime and find comfort in them instead of fear.”
If academic writing is more your style, check out Joshua St. Pierre's new book, Cheap Talk: Disability and the Politics of Communication, published by the University of Michigan Press. Josh is the Canada Research Chair in Critical Disability Studies and Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Alberta. His book “flips the script on communication disability, positioning the unruly, disabled speaker at the center of analysis to challenge the belief that more communication is unquestionably good.”
Both St. Pierre books are also available on Amazon. POSTER
