It was extra special for the coordinators of the Lodgepole Communitas ministry to be able to bring all our volunteer teams together, many of whom had never met each other, on Saturday, June 1 at Lodgepole Alberta Ave (St. Faith's Anglican Church), to share food, stories and laughter.
Between September 2023 and May 2024, we served over 7,000 meals to our community members. For many of our community members, Prayerworks, our meal program, is an important space of belonging amidst daily life situations of loneliness, isolation, mental or physical distress, addiction and precarity.
Serving our community would not have been possible without the dedication of our different volunteer teams, who gave time to help serve and prepare meals while getting to know our community.
Beyond Prayerworks, we celebrated volunteers from our food bank at Lodgepole Highlands (St. Mary's Anglican Church) as well as volunteers, staff and clergy at other key entry points of our Communitas. We had a great celebrating all our volunteer teams connected to the Lodgepole Communitas.
