St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Edmonton welcomed the warm weather and the beginning of summer with an outdoor service on Trinity Sunday, June 4, 2023. One count suggested around 150 people attended, enjoying either the cool shade or bright sun at Lendrum Community League.
St. John’s choir performed an anthem and led two favourite traditional hymns. One of St. John’s music teams also led beautiful contemporary worship.
Rector of St. John’s, the Ven. Richard King, was pleased to hold this year’s outdoor service in Lendrum, just down the street from the church. “This is where we worship every week and where some of our church family live. We're enjoying ourselves, the music is great. What a great opportunity to let our neighbours see a little more of who we are.”
The service was followed by a hotdog lunch cooked on the grill. St. John’s thanks all the volunteers who did the work to make it happen: setting up and taking down sound equipment, and bringing, cooking and cleaning up the food. Can’t wait for the next outdoor service in the works for September!
