Plant a Tree for a Syrian Refugee Family

In 2016, Catherine, Marilyn and Neil Scott gathered together a group of resourceful volunteers and, with the assistance of the Diocese of Edmonton, sponsored a family of four from Syria: Nadia, Kamal, their son Mahdi and daughter Helen. You can read their story in the September, 2017 issue of The Messenger (page 6). 

Relatives of the Scott family are third-generation family farmers who recently started a tree-planting initiative in support of refugee families. For $3.99 per tree (plus GST) donors can have a tree planted for them along Terwillegar Drive in Edmonton. They also get to plant the matching virtual tree online and share it as a gift. This is an opportunity to restore urban forest habitat and $2 per tree will help Syrian newcomer families sponsored by the Anglican Diocese of Edmonton.
