Bishop Jane blessed St. David’s new stairway chair installations: one in the entranceway and another leading down to the basement hall, on Sunday, March 10, 2019. St. David’s children were thrilled to sit on the chair, as well as hold the Bishop’s crozier and mitre.
St. David’s is now able to accommodate people unable to navigate stairs. People using walkers or those able to transfer from a portable wheelchair will be able both to attend services in the church and to participate in gatherings in our hall. The newly renovated “family washroom” is spacious enough to accommodate an assistant, if needed.
The accessibility project was funded in part by a grant from the Province of Alberta (Culture and Tourism) under the Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP). The remainder was covered by generous donations of parishioners and friends, as well as, funds from the Reach Campaign. Submitted by the Rev. Renée Desjardins, rector; Photos: Tim Campbell
