Holy Week Music Meditation

Holy Week Music Meditation

NEW DATE - Wednesday, April 17, 2019

Join us at St. Matthew's, 125 Larose Drive, St. Albert, on Wednesday, April 17, 7 pm, for a music-based meditation. We will be led to sing (or sit in the presence of music) and pray. More information can be found here on the church website.

Mark 14 tells a unique account that says they all sang hymns before going out to the Mount of Olives on their way to the Garden of Gethsemane. In all of the Holy Week moments and transitions, this transition allowed for the disciples to sing and pray together. Maundy Thursday focuses on the Last Supper. Good Friday focuses on the Passion and death of Jesus, and Easter Sunday focuses on the resurrection. Prior to those journeys in our faith story, the people who dedicated their lives to Christ gathered to sing and pray. Let's do the same!

Contemporary Tenebrae

Contemporary Tenebrae

Presented by St. Timothy's Choir - Wednesday, April 17, 2019

St. Timothy's Anglican Church invites you to join us on Wednesday in Holy Week for a contemporary tenebrae by Joel Raney and Lloyd Larson. Sung by St. Timothy's choir, Hope in the Shadows recalls Christ’s journey to the cross by examining the shadows of betrayal, injustice, and agony that marked the journey. It contrasts the selfish exploits of humanity with the divine nature of a loving God. This presentation is designed to engage our senses as we embrace Christ’s journey to the cross and reflect on our own humanity. St. Timothy's Anglican Church is located in west Edmonton at 8420-145 Street NW. POSTER

Holy Saturday, the Day of the Tomb, serves as a borderland between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, joining, yet separating the two holiest days of the Christian calendar. 'Altarwalk Redux: Dead Man Waiting' explores the profundity of this day through art, dance, music, poetry, scripture, imaginative exercises, ritual and symbolism. A special Eucharistic ritual will invite congregants to the stillness of the tomb as a place to ritualistically join Christ in His death, burial and resurrection.

Ontario Government Addresses General Synod Pension Issues

Ontario Government Addresses General Synod Pension Issues

by Judy Robinson, Pension Office Corporation of The Anglican Church of Canada

In its 2019 budget, released on April 11, 2019, the Ontario government announced it will update the Target Benefit Pension Plan framework to include multi-employer pension plans with participating employers outside of the collective bargaining environment. In support of this announcement, we made the attached press release on Canadian news networks.   This change impacts the General Synod Pension Plan in the way we have been requesting for the past decade, as we expect it will lead to permanent solvency funding relief for the Plan.
