Anglican Archivists Recognised for Volunteer CommitmentProvincial Archives hosts appreciation tea With a gentle hand, discerning eye and loads of patience, Jeanette Flesher, Beth-Anne Exham and Diane Morgan have dedicated several hours each week to helping preserve the rich heritage of Anglicans in Alberta. Guided by Diocese of Edmonton Archivist Kathryn Ivany, the team processes (prepares) historical records for the Anglican Church of Canada collection at the Provincial Archives of Alberta, located at 8555 Roper Rd NW in Edmonton.
Archives’ staff and volunteers hosted a volunteer recognition tea on Tuesday, January 28. Also in attendance were members of the Edmonton diocese including Kathryn Ivany, Dr. Jane Samson, associate ecumenical and interfaith officer, and Margaret Glidden, communications director. Keeping track of historical documents important to the Diocese of Edmonton is a big job! Our dedicated archivist is looking for interested and conscientious individuals who would like to volunteer to help with this work for about three hours a week. Ministry of Presence in EdmontonInner City Pastoral Ministry (ICPM) Seeking Full-time Pastor The Inner City Pastoral Ministry (ICPM) is an inter-denominational Christian ‘ministry of presence’ for inner city people. Partners in ICPM are members of Lutheran, Anglican, Roman Catholic and United Church denominations. The current pastor retires on May 31, 2020, thus, a full-time position is available for an ordained minister on May 31 or earlier. The pastor oversees the overall direction of the ICPM mission, objectives, and goals. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the pastor provides spiritual leadership and pastoral care largely among adults living within the urban core of Edmonton. Opportunity for Youthon the May long weekend Young Sojourners is a weekend conference held in Sorrento, BC for Anglican youth. The conference focuses on relevant themes for youth as well as community-building. St. Paul's Anglican in Edmonton is planning to take a group to this conference on the May long weekend. We will be booking a bus and there is a lot of room for other youth or youth groups to join! Ascend Church Website Developer Merges with Tithe.lyOpportunities for Parish Websites and Online Giving Church website developer Ascend has announced its merge with Tithe.ly. This partnership is good news for those of us on the Ascend platform and parishes who are looking into developing a new website. Tithe.ly will be able to offer a lower monthly webhosting fee which includes features such as e-newsletters and sermon podcasting. There is no cost to sign up for a Tithe.ly online giving account, and the Diocese of Edmonton receives the discounted processing rate of 2.75%+30c per transaction for debit/credit card donations. St. Faith's Deacon Publishes Book of Jesus-centered Reflections
The Rev. Dr. Adenike Yesufu, a vocational deacon at St. Faith’s, Edmonton, has recently published a book titled Exploring Jesus in the Bible. The book includes a Foreword message by Dr. David Williams, President, Taylor Seminary, Professor of Theology and Ethics, Director E. P. Wahl Centre.
