ACC Bishops Issue Statement on Confronting Racism and Repenting of Complicity
"Our own house is not in order. Systemic racism exists in every part of Canada." We, as members of the Anglican Diocese of Edmonton and Anglican Church of Canada, commit ourselves to confronting racism in the Church’s own life and to acknowledging the place of racism and colonialism in our own nation. “We repent of our complicity in the continuing structures of racism and oppression in our church and in our culture, for racism is not of Christ. It is sin." - Episcopal Statement on Confronting Racism

"Please Take Care of Yourselves"
Bishop Jane asks that if you were one of the roughly 15,000 people present at the Black Lives Matter protest at the legislature last Friday, please heed chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw's advice to be tested for Covid-19, even if you are asymptomatic. "Please do take care of yourselves and get tested; please stay home until your test results come through. Bless you all," in Christ, +Jane Photo: Shaela Dansereau, Ponoka News |
What is it like for you to live through these strange days?
As we adjust to the changes brought by the COVID-19 pandemic and parishes make plans to safely re-open their churches, what are some of the challenges you face? Where do see God at work? How are you practicing your faith? What keeps you hopeful? If at all possible, please send us a picture that helps tell your story. Please send your thoughts to Margaret: churched@edmonton.anglican.ca |

National Blood Donor Week June 8-14Help Strengthen Canada's Lifeline! Since the global outbreak of COVID-19, Canadian Blood Services has welcomed greater than usual numbers of first time blood donors in a very short period: "the pandemic has changed our world, but it’s also shown we can still count on the unwavering support of our donors." The need for blood and blood products remains constant and what better time to become a donor or make a donation than during National Blood Donor Week. Canadian Blood Services is thankful for the way donors have stepped up in the last couple of months: "From governments to hospitals; first responders to corporations; faith groups to community groups – we are all in this together and we appreciate the incredible support." All precautions are taken to make giving blood safe during the Covid-19 pandemic. Please see the attached wellness infographic. Please visit www.blood.ca to find a donor centre near you and book an appointment. And if you haven't done it already, register here for the Partners for Life program to make your donation count toward the Diocese of Edmonton annual donation goal of 100 units. Our code is: ANGL696986. Registration must be done online. Even if you've given blood before, if you register now, your donations can be included retroactively toward our goal. Family Re-homing Antique Pump Organ
Connie Pistawka, a member of St. Paul's, Edmonton, would like to find a home for her father's Antique Pump Organ circa 1870. Her father has been moved to a care facility. The organ was obtained from an old church in Pennsylvania. and was made by J.R. Julius Pianos and Organs, York D.A. The interior components have been cleaned and repaired. Dimensions: width 43 inches, length= 23 inches, height=84 inches. "The organ was appraised by an antique dealer at $400. However, we realize that one would probably have to pay someone to move it, so this is obviously negotiable," says Connie. If you are interested in seeing the organ, please send an email to chubbsy133@shaw.ca |
