The Rev. Christopher Cook will be inducted as rector of All Saints' Anglican Church in Drayton Valley on Sunday, November 1 at 10:30 am. The service will be live-streamed at the church's Facebook page (you do not need a Facebook account to see it). For those wishing to attend in-person, please RSVP by emailing the church no later than Wednesday, October 28, in order to confirm that space is available.

Members of All Saints', Drayton Valley, participated in the first of a series of strategic planning sessions on Sunday, October 18, after their morning Eucharist service. Rita Stagman, People's Warden, with technical help from Holly and Shelby Cook, facilitated the discussion that focused on the question: "What do we want to see going on in All Saints’ Anglican Church in the next 3 – 5 years?" All Saints' is using this as an opportunity to journey together, with the members of the congregation guiding and setting the direction and priorities for the church.

St. Faith's Anglican Church in Edmonton is seeking volunteers for its PrayerWorks meals program. Each week, we serve Thursday lunch, Friday dinner, and Saturday breakfast. Sacred Teachings podcast is now into its fourth season. This season, which began September 14, is called STOLEN and focuses on so many things that have been stolen from Indigenous people through their experience of colonization: land, water, language, culture, and much more. Hosted by Peter Downie, the series looks at what has been taken, who took it, and how can justice be served. This week, a discussion of Indigenous people's experience of racism in the Canadian health care system.

Like the idea of building bridges; sharing the Gospel of Jesus in a ministry of word and presence? On Eagle's Wings Ecumenical Ministries is looking for a Director of Ministry, a .8 position that requires the ability to travel and to develop relationships with ecumenical partners and communities in remote areas of the Canadian north. "Transforming Questions" is a 10-session course hosted by Good Shepherd, Edmonton; St. Thomas, Sherwood Park; and St. Columba, Beaumont. It is designed to help participants engage basic questions of the Christian faith through teaching and conversation. Join us on Zoom on Wednesday evenings, from 7-9 pm. It began September 23 and will end November 25. You will get the Zoom link when you register.

Good Shepherd Anglican Church is hosting a monthly Zoom book club this fall, with a focus on racism and our Christian response to it. October's book (available through Glass Bookshop) is White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism by Robin DiAngelo. All are welcome and encouraged to enjoy snacks and beverages in your own home starting at 7:30pm on October 26, as we talk about what parts of the book you enjoyed most, what surprised you, what you found troubling and what has spurred you to action. This interactive guide to Christian doctrine, based on Anglican and ecumenical statements, is available on the Theological Resources page of the Anglican Communion website. Taking advantage of the availability of official statements on various websites, this concise and well grounded introduction to the nature of doctrine, the Creeds and the doctrine of the Church has been written for use in home groups, study programmes, seminaries and theological colleges across the worldwide Anglican Communion.

"That All May Be One: The Ecumenical and Interfaith Vocations of Christian Discipleship" The Rev. Canon Scott Sharman, Ecumenical and Interfaith Coordinator for the Edmonton diocese, has developed a four-part series of 25-to-30-minute introductory talks on the theme of ecumenical and interfaith engagement. These videos are designed for use by parishes and smaller groups. When the "Discussion Guide" is used, each online or in-person study group session will run about 60-75 minutes.  

While some parishes in Edmonton diocese are, very carefully, holding in-person worship services again, many parishes in this and other dioceses continue to live-stream and/or record services and prayers online. This page lists online opportunities for prayer, worship, learning and virtual community in this season of physical distancing. 

In this time of continued uncertainty, the Church, the Body of Christ, remains a loving and connected community. we hope to do all we can to support each other, and the diocese grateful for any and all donations we receive. This is annual gathering of youth leaders, normally held in person, will be held on-line this year. The great news is that we now don’t have to limit participation. Without the financial constraints of attending, we can now encourage all youth leaders in every diocese to attend. We are pulling together an event that will (hopefully) respond to the needs of youth leaders doing ministry in this digital/pandemic time. Please save the dates of November 24 and 25 and do not hesitate to email the Rev.
