Bishop Jane Alexander has appointed the Rev. Aaron Parsall-Myler as Curate at St. Matthew's, St. Albert, effective November 1, 2017. 

Bishop Jane will lead this retreat planned for the first weekend in December at Providence Renewal Centre. Two thousand years ago, Mary's "yes" to God set the stage for Divine incarnation. Join Bishop Jane to explore how Mary's example might challenge us today. 

Every year the Diocese of Edmonton participates in the 'No Room in the Inn' project. Organized by the Edmonton and District Council of Churches, this project provides financial support to a different agency each year; one that is working to house the homeless in the Edmonton area. This year, 'No Room in the Inn' has chosen to support the Edmonton Region of the Canadian Mental Health Association. Brochures and offering envelopes are available for pickup at the Synod Office, 10035 103 Street NW, Edmonton. 

As Partners for Life, members of the diocese are encouraged to roll up our sleeves and give blood to a neighbour in need. As part of the Canadian Blood Services (CBS) Program, we have donated 67 units of blood toward our pledge of 100 units by December 31, 2017.

After much anticipation, Buye Diocese opened the doors to their new Guest House on November 2, 2017. Named after the Kirundi word irembo (meaning 'gate'), the Irembo Centre was inspired by John 10:9, where Jesus is the gate and once you cross through that gate you have all necessary things. This connection to John 10:9 is made stronger through a saying in Kirundi, which says that "when you open a gate, it is the daylight".  The opening was honoured by His Excellency Peter NKURUNZIZA, the state President, and eight Bishops, including the Archbishop Martin Blaise NYABOHO.

This event begins with the documentary Audrie & Daisy (currently on Netflix), and concludes with an open talkback, led by the subjects of the film who will be present. It deals with a deeply important subject, and, although heavy, it is handled very well in the presentation. The Diocese of Edmonton along with St. John's invite you to hear this story and be a voice for change alongside them. If there uncertainty on the part of parents as to whether their teens attend, we encourage you to view the film on Netflix yourself before you make that decision. Remember too, that this is an event for you regardless of whether your teen attends.

First, an Interdenominational Prayer Service at McDougall United Church, 10025 101 Street, Edmonton at 6:00 pm. This is a Christian service but all people who long for peace are welcome to attend.

Second, at 7:00 pm, participants will gather at City Hall in downtown Edmonton for the 8th Annual Interfaith Prayer Walk for Peace. There will be four stops on the walk. The time of remembrance, reflection, and prayer will be led by members of four different faith communities.
