Edgerton Heritage Feast in Support of Ukrainian Aid
St. Mary’s Anglican Church and Faith United Church members hosted a feast of Ukrainian food (sausages, perogies, lazy cabbage rolls and homemade desserts), for well over 260 people in support of Ukrainian Aid on Sunday evening, March 20th. The Edgerton Agricultural Hall was filled with folks from the village and as far out as Chauvin and Wainwright. So far, more than $9,100 has been raised by a small group of determined community members and a geographically extended community! It is truly amazing how a few people with big hearts can bring hope, peace, joy and love to the world around them. We are blessed to know that every dollar raised is truly a prayer for Ukrainians everywhere. Submitted by the Rev. Rachael Parker, rector, St. Mary’s, Edgerton, St. Thomas’, Wainwright For more infomation visit: http://edmonton.anglican.ca/news/edgerton-heritage-feast-in-support-of-ukrainian-aid

Alberta Churches Unite in Prayer for Peace in Ukraine
Parishes of the Edmonton diocese joined ecumenical partners across Alberta to participate in Day of Prayer for Peace in Ukraine on March 18. Bishop Stephen London and Canon Scott Sharman, Ecumenical and interfaith coordinator and canon to the ordinary, led a noon-hour prayer service at All Saints’ Cathedral. The service followed a special “Liturgy of the Word” for Peace in Ukraine. Sharman read the Gospel of Matthew, 5:1-12A, Jesus’ Beatitudes and led the Prayers of the Faithful. Bishop Steve reflected on what it means to be a peaceful people in a world in turmoil. All Saints’ music director Jeremy Spurgeon played two hymns on the organ: “When Our World is Rent by Violence” and “When Sudden Terror Tears Apart.” (The Litany for Ukraine can be found at www.aleteia.org). In the evening, Christ Church hosted a Community Service of Light and Hope. Other parishes observed the Day of Prayer by ringing their church tower bells. Remembering the Children Travelling Weaving Project Invites Participation
All are welcome to come to St. Faith's Thursday, March 24 and Friday, March 25, from 1 to 3 pm, to participate in the Remembering the Children diocesan weaving project. The project which began at Christ Church on Ash Wednesday is facilitated by members of the diocesan Indigenous Ministries Team and lay evangelist Alison Hurlburt, a weaver. Betty Kaahwa is the Loom Keeper at St. Faith. Alison taught Betty how to weave and maintain the loom. For Betty, it has been a wonderful opportunity to learn about the project in remembrance of children who died at residential schools. She considers it a great honour to be the Loom Keeper at St. Faith. Alison encourages people to stop in to weave, pray and remember. She says no prior weaving experience is necessary. “Beginners can weave a line in as little as 15 minutes," she says. “This isn’t about being a skilled craftsperson. It is an opportunity to make community art in recognition and remembrance of something that is and should be deeply felt.” For more infomation visit:

Clergy ResilienceManaging Stress and Restoring Self Caring for others, responding to others, and coping with conflict and change on a continual basis is always part of the ministry of clergy. It can take its toll - especially in the context of a pandemic that has resulted in isolation, grief and loss, financial stress, and for some, despair. We believe that resilience arises and develops when self-awareness, self-care, and community and spiritual renewal are actively engaged. This 3-day workshop, to be held May 1-4, will provide a resilience development program with opportunity to reflect, interact with others, and to be seen, heard, and understood. The retreat is led by three skilled professionals: Marv Westwood, David Kuhl and Lin Langley. For more infomation visit: https://www.sorrentocentre.ca/events/developing-resilience-and-restoring-self
