Diocesan Family Illuminated by the Light of ChristGreat Easter Vigil a Gathering of Many Parishes “Tonight, we renew our commitment to being resurrection people by receiving the grace and mercy of God and by bringing that grace and mercy to others…,” said Bishop Stephen London in his Great Vigil of Easter sermon, on April 8, at All Saints’ Cathedral in Edmonton. Because “at the end of the day, resurrection is not lived out in big ways,” he said. “It is lived out by everyday people in their everyday lives, coming together in prayer and fellowship and through simple acts of love and kindness.” The Easter Vigil began with giving thanks for the Light of Christ that shines through the witness of parishes throughout the Edmonton diocese. Members of several parishes gathered around a fire lit in a portable campfire pit outside the cathedral. From the new fire, Bishop London lit the Paschal Candle and asked for God’s blessing on the oil which will be used throughout the diocese as a sign of God’s Holy Spirit and abiding presence, as well as God’s healing love. Messy Easter at St. Luke's
St. Luke’s Anglican Church hosted its annual Messy Easter gathering again this year. The event ran from 2:00 until about 4:00 pm and featured and Easter egg hunt and two crafts. The first craft was a paper container that the children decorated with stickers, drawings, and anything else they liked, which they then used to hold the Easter eggs they found. One of St. Luke’s Messy Church organizers, Karen MacDonald, says they were “really creative!” “The other activity,” MacDonald explained, “was making a cross and/or an Easter egg that was designed to look like stained glass and to be hung in a window. Colourful round confetti that I found online from Amazon made them quite lovely!” For more infomation visit:

Monk Therapy
What can we learn about psychology and mental health from the spiritual practices of Christian mystics through the ages; people like Catherine of Siena, Bernard of Clairvaux, Ignatius of Loyola and many others. Did they know as much about these things as we do today? Maybe more? The Rev. Ron Klok, founder of Heartisan Counselling and co-founder of The Studion School for Spiritual Direction, will unpack this fascinating topic in a series of workshops, online and in person at The King's University (9125 50 Street NW, Edmonton), on the evenings of Thursday, May 4, Friday, May 5 and all day Saturday, May 6.
