The Diocese of Edmonton, like many corners of God’s Church, is going through a time of transition. Being the Church today and, more importantly, preparing to be the Church of tomorrow, is going to take each and every one of us. Your Diocese of Edmonton church family needs you. We cannot be what God calls us to be without you on board. To that end, Bishop Steve is asking everyone in Edmonton diocese to please take a few minutes of your time to fill out THIS SURVEY on various possible opportunities for service in our diocesan family.

Revive Resource for Equipping Lay Leaders Available to Parishes and Groups

Revive Resource for Equipping Lay Leaders Available to Parishes and Groups

The Revive program curriculum and videos are now available for parishes and ministry groups in the Edmonton diocese. Revive is a discipleship program offered in gratitude to active church members to help them grow in confidence as spiritual leaders.

Revive is one of many tools the Edmonton diocese will use as we Find Our Way forward together as Gospel people in the 21st century. Revive reflects our belief that all who are baptised are called to share in the mission of God through their unique ministries. A Calling for All, the second of the Edmonton diocese's Five Primary Principles, sees an empowered laity serving as equals alongside a collaborative and team-oriented clergy.

According to the Rev. Canon Dr. Scott Sharman, Canon to the Ordinary, a diocesan-wide, online offering of Revive is also in the works. Watch for a launch date early in the new year.

To learn how your parish group can begin using these materials now, contact the Synod Office: churched@edmonton.anglican.ca; 780-439-7344.

St. Thomas Welcomes Back Common Cup Company

St. Thomas Welcomes Back Common Cup Company

On Saturday, October 14, approximately 150 people gathered at St. Thomas to enjoy the musical stylings of the Common Cup Company.

For almost four decades the Common Cup Company has been blessing us with their love of music, their love of Jesus and their love of creative storytelling. They have the wonderful ability to put into a simple, catchy melody biblical stories and stories of faith that people of every age can relate to. They are a gift to our churches and their music and ministry have impacted many people in their lives of faith!

The following day on October 15, the Common Cup joined the parish for worship, providing music for our service. Thank you to the Common Cup Company for a wonderful and joy-filled weekend. Submitted by the Rev. Canon Chelsy Bouwman

Ol' Fashioned Hymn Sing

Ol' Fashioned Hymn Sing

Sunday, October 22, 7 pm, St. Matthew's, St. Albert

Are you someone who, from time to time, will hear an older hymn and find that it just seems to fill your cup in a way that is difficult to describe? Or feel like, as great as the upbeat version of  "10,000 Reasons" is, there is something to be said for a classic like "Jesus Loves Me," or "I Need Thee Every Hour"? Then St. Matthew's Ol’ Fashioned Hymn Sing might be just what you need! After challenging our members to list their favourite old hymn, we have chosen 20 hymns like “All Through the Night,” “Old Rugged Cross,” and “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus,” to gather and sing together on the evening of October 22, 7 pm, at St. Matthew’s, 125 Larose Dr, St. Albert. All are welcome. Even if you claim not to sing… come. Sit. And be surrounded by hymns that have been foundational over the years to so many. Any questions, please feel free to reach out – otherwise, see you there!
