Prayers for the Repose of the Soul of the Rev. Canon Gwen Bright

Please pray for the repose of the soul of the Rev. Canon Gwen Bright, retired priest of the Edmonton diocese. We learned of Gwen's passing late this morning. Gwen was 84 years old, born July 6, 1940 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Gwen was ordained as a deacon in 1987 and ordained as priest in 1988 at All Saints' Cathedral in Edmonton. She was made a Canon of All Saints' Cathedral in 1996. Gwen served in the Diocese of Edmonton as a parish priest and diocesan hospital chaplain. After her retirement, Gwen served as an Honorary Assistant at All Saints' Cathedral. 

At her request, a funeral service for Gwen will be held at the Cathedral of St. John in Winnipeg, Manitoba at a later date (to be announced when details are confirmed). 

Loving and merciful God,
We entrust our sister Gwen to your mercy.
You loved her greatly in this life; 
Now that she is freed from all its cares give her happiness 
and peace for ever. 
The old order has passed away;
Welcome her into paradise 
Where there will be no more sorrow,
No more weeping or pain,
But only peace and joy 
With Jesus, Your Son,
And the Holy Spirit,
For ever and ever,
