Bishop Licenses Lay Evangelists, Ordains Deacons and Presbyters on Pentecost Sunday
Bishop Stephen London participated in two "amazing" services in two churches on Pentecost Sunday, June 8. "To celebrate the Feast of the Sending of the Holy Spirit upon the church, we had an abundance of riches in baptisms, confirmations, and the licensing of two Lay Evangelists" at Good Shepherd, Edmonton, with the rector, Archdeacon Jordan Haynie Ware. The Rev. Tim Chesterton, Warden for Lay Evangelists, participated in the licensing of Helen Craigen and Anthony Sterr, both members of Good Shepherd.

Canon, Deacons and Presbyters Called to Serve in New Patterns of Ministry
On the miracle of Pentecost Sunday, June 8, 2025, members of the Anglican church family in the Edmonton diocese participated in a new ordination rite to recognize those among us called by God to the ministries of Canon, Deacon and Presbyter. Bishop Stephen London, 11th Bishop of Edmonton, installed Fiona Brownlee as a Lay Canon for her ministry of truth and reconciliation. A founding member of the Reconciliation Team at Immanuel Anglican Church in Wetaskiwin, Brownlee served as the diocese’s Aboriginal and rural churches liaison for more than a decade. By encouraging neighbourly love, she coordinated community events to honour the memory of children who died at residential schools and Missing and Murdered indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQ+ folk. She was seated in the stall of Saint Julian of Norwich by the Very Rev. Alex Meek, Dean of Edmonton. For more infomation visit:

Church Admin CornerExternal renters require liability insurance Last week's topic touched on rental contracts. Insurance goes hand-in-hand with any discussion of rentals. Liability insurance coverage is required for all individuals and groups using parish/diocesan property for anything other than a church purpose. This includes all external renters, private birthday parties hosted by parishioners, community gatherings, rehearsals, concerts/recitals, etc. (unless organized by the parish itself). It is recommended that a user’s liability insurance coverage be a minimum amount of $2 million. Individuals and groups with their own insurance coverage should provide the parish with a certificate of insurance naming the parish as additionally insured. This is a typical request of insurance companies, so all insured users should be able to provide this. Individuals or group rentals without their own insurance coverage, can purchase third-party insurance coverage through the diocesan insurance plan. To learn more about diocesan third-party insurance coverage and applicable rates, please visit https://edmonton.anglican.ca/parish-info/pages/insurance.
