Help Buyé seniors for only $5
Here's an idea for a simple fundraiser that will make a world of difference to senior citizens in Buyé diocese. Edmonton diocese invites you and your parish to hold an after-service coffee hour one Sunday in September. You probably do that anyway, right? If parishioners can donate $5 on that day, the diocese will use the money to support an amazing medical initiative in Buyé. Our partners there in the Buyé Mothers' Union are working to provide seniors with a card that gives them 80% coverage of medical expenses for a year. It only costs $5 but is out of reach for most seniors, who have worked at hard physical labour most of their lives, and now don't even have a pension. Bishop Leads Sunday Celebration at St. Patrick's, WhitecourtJoyous Occasion Includes Baptism, Confirmation and Blessing of Labyrinth “This is such an exciting day to be here at St. Patrick’s,” said Bishop Jane Alexander, greeting the Anglican congregation in Whitecourt on the morning of August 19. “Any one of these things would be cause for celebration. No wonder there’s a monster cake downstairs.” Bishop Jane baptised Linkin Cairns, infant son of Tara Young and Jeremy Cairns; and confirmed and received into the Church of God, Ethan and Jacob House, Nicole Galang, Sheldon King and Mary Grace Gould. She also presented Maria Vasseur with an Anglican Church Women (ACW) honourary life member pin. All Saints' Has Busy Summer Building Community in Drayton ValleyParish Participates in Canada Day Parade, Hosts Block Party and Holds Food Drive All Saints’, Drayton Valley had a very busy summer and we wish to share with you a couple of the highlights. Like many churches, we faced the question this year of what to do when there is a community parade and celebration scheduled for the same time as our regular worship. We decided to offer worship at an alternate time, so that anyone who wanted could attend the service and also participate in our local parade. We had a wonderful time decorating a truck (pictured is Miriam Roberts handing out bookmarks). Seven children join me in the truck bed, while others handed out candy and bookmarks. It was great to see so many people coming together to help with this project.
