Fr. Michael Lapsley, SSM, has stepped down as director of the Institute for the Healing of Memories (IHOM) in Cape Town, South Africa, a ministry he founded more than 20 years ago. Since the 1990s, the healing of memories institute has facilitated workshops and events enabling people from different racial, religious and social backgrounds to reach a better understanding of themselves and of each other.
“Fr. Michael’s vision for a whole and transformed world has shaped the mission and vision of the institute,” said Canon Delene Mark, chair.
Last October, Fr. Lapsley, 70, who is Honorary Canon for Healing and Reconciliation, gave the homily at the opening service of the 66th Synod of the Diocese of Edmonton. Read more about Fr. Lapsley’s visit to our diocese and efforts to develop a healing of memories team in the 2019 IHOM Annual Report .
