Edmonton Cursillo hosted its second Zoom Ultreya (a gathering of those who have attended a past Cursillo weekend) on Friday, March 19. Communications Coordinator Janie Seguin reports that, once again, it was “a great success and an awesome night.”

28 people joined on 24 Zoom windows with participants from several locations. Victoria, who joined from Nova Scotia wrote afterward, “I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your Ultreya and how much I appreciate the opportunity to celebrate this beautiful ministry with you and the other Cursillistas gathered. I cannot believe, after 30 years, Cursillo still burns in my heart with such a bright light and desire to be part of it. I wish only the best for (the Edmonton chapter) and look forward to attending again.”

The group is particularly grateful to Bishop Jane, who also joined the Zoom meeting and shared a farewell message. “Bishop Jane gave us a heart-warming goodbye with awesome words to live by and some funny stories as well,” says Seguin.

Attendee Jean Aylard of St. Thomas’ in Sherwood Park described it as “an all-around joyful and wonderful evening with lots of singing and laughter! It was as close to 'the real thing' as we could possibly hope for. We so loved having Bishop Jane join us; that was so very special! We wish her all the best in her journey to come.”

The evening ended, as did the previous meeting, with the group joining Evening Prayer online with the Rev. Barry Rose.

The next virtual Ultreya is planned for Friday evening, April 16.
