SSJD Quiet DayChrist Church, 12116 102 Ave., Edmonton The Associates of SSJD (Sisters of St. John the Divine) will host a Quiet Day retreat at Christ Church, Edmonton on Saturday, March 9. We gather for coffee and visit at 9:30, then hold Morning Prayer at 10:00 am in the church. The Reverend Maureen Crerar will be our speaker. We will have some quiet times for reflection and reading, and we’ll serve soup to go with your bag lunch at noon. We finish at 3:45 pm. ACC Reconciliation Tool KitNew Resources Help Anglicans in Process of Truth-telling and Healing Since the conclusion of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) mandate in 2015 and the release of the TRC’s 94 Calls to Action, Anglicans across Canada have been seeking ways to continue the process of truth-telling and healing begun by the TRC. From commemorations, walks and feasts to study groups and social action groups, more and more people are getting involved in this ongoing healing journey. Reconciliation, right relationship, justice-seeking—these are all part of a “trajectory of grace”. There are many places to enter into this journey. KAIROS CANADACall to Action Kairos Canada is a joint venture ecumenical program for 'Faithful Action for Justice and Peace' administered by the United Church of Canada. Kairos is calling for urgent attention and action to see that Bill C-262, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, will be passed by the Senate. Building Compassion for Women at RiskImmanuel ACW Hosts Day of Learning and Sharing About "Women in Peril"
The Anglican Church Women (ACW) of Immanuel, Wetaskiwin welcomed more than 50 people on February 9 to a day of learning and sharing about ways to build compassion in supporting women-at-risk. Representatives of the Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers (EMCN), the Red Dress Photography Project and Wetaskiwin and District Victim Services made inspiring and informative presentations at “Women in Peril: Building Compassion.” For 100 years, the Immanuel ACW has helped address women’s issues locally and around the world by reaching out to sisters in their local community, across Canada and internationally in Afghanistan and Burundi. The Rev. Donna Willer's Retirement Tea
St. Mary’s, Ponoka congregation hosted a Retirement Tea for the Rev. Donna Willer, February 9, in celebration of her many years of faithful service as parish rector. Family members and friends, from as far away as Saskatoon, braved the cold to join her in fun and fellowship. Many stories were shared bringing tears and laughter. As Donna journeys on the next stage of life’s sacred path we pray God’s grace continue to be with her. Photo by the Rev. St. David's Supports Addiction Recovery
St. David’s hosts an annual Dinner & Silent Auction on the last Friday in November. The proceeds are divided equally among the mission and ministry of the parish and a local or distant charity. In 2018 we donated $2,355 to Our House Edmonton, a year-long residential rehabilitation program for men who are overcoming addictions. On Sunday, February 10, 2019, St. David’s welcomed Program Supervisor of Our House, Rebecca Bernard, as well as two current residents. During coffee hour, Rebecca shared about the different program components (self, relationships, sexuality and spirituality) at Our House, which is operating at its capacity of 60 residents and has a waiting list. Good Shepherd Anglican Church15495 Castledowns Road, Edmonton Join Good Shepherd for a crash course in ethics as we watch and discuss “God and The Good Place” every Wednesday! We'll join Chidi and Eleanor as they explore the ethics of the afterlife, and add our own particular perspective as Christians through the study of scripture and theology. All are welcome! There are two sessions of the same course each week, one at 1pm and one at 7pm. We will begin by watching an episode of the NBC comedy starring Kristen Bell and Ted Danson, followed by our discussion.

Heartbeat of the ChurchPrayers of the Church - for the Church Archbishop Fred Hiltz invites parishes and dioceses across the country to join together in dialogue, prayer and reflection through Conversation Circles. He asks that each circle create a prayer expressing their "heartbeat for the church." The prayers will be shared at General Synod 2019, which is also when Archbishop Hiltz will step down as Primate. Cultural Connections Institute – The Learning Exchange – will hold the following workshops, designed to help people who teach English as a Second Language in their community: 1) ESL in the Community, Basic Training runs Saturday March 9 from 9:00am – 2:30pm. It includes basic training about the refugee experience and language teaching, ready-to-go (beginner) lesson plans, and a stack of ready-to-go teaching materials. 2) Conversation Skills Workshop runs Wednesday, March 20 from 5:30pm – 8:00pm. The Greater Edmonton Alliance (GEA) and the Edmonton Seniors Coordinating Council are part of an initiative, Seniors Home Supports Program, to help seniors living on their own by providing referrals to services such as snow removal, yard help, housekeeping, home repair and maintenance and moving help (www.seniorshomesupports.com). The Anglican diocese is a member of GEA, a network of faith, labour, and community organizations working together to mobilize citizens’ power to act effectively on issues that matter to us all.
