Buye Diocese Completes Community Water Project; Experiences Heavy Rain, Strong Winds
Our friends in Buyé diocese are nearing the completion of another community water project, funded by donations to Bishop Jane’s farewell gift. Please keep Buyé diocese in your prayers. The Rev. Dominique Ciza, Buyé Diocesan Executive Secretary, says, “we are experiencing heavy rain and strong winds which are destroying crops and houses including church buildings.” Pictured is the water project, as well as the dining hall at Buyé Lycee which was recently damaged by strong winds.

Circles of Creativity and ConnectionWednesday, November 10, 2021 Join the Rev. Stephanie London at All Saints' Cathedral in Edmonton, every Tuesday afternoon until December 7 (contact Sara in the Cathedral office to register admin@allsaintscathedral.ca); and at St. Columba Anglican Church in Beaumont, every Wednesday afternoon until December 8. No experience is necessary, and all materials are included. If you're one of the many people who think they "aren't creative," don't let that stop you :) Open to everyone who would like to participate, regardless of age, gender, religious affiliation (or none), etc. Proof of vaccination will be required, as well as masks and social distancing. Outdoor Christmas MarketSaturday, November 13, 2021 St. Augustine's Parkland, 131 Church Road, Spruce Grove invites you to an outdoor, Christmas Market, November 13, from 3-7 pm. Pick up hand knit and crocheted items, as well as gently-used Christmas decor. The market will feature a Kids' Shopping Zone and hot beverages. Masks are required for this event. Early Music Chamber Concertfeaturing Jodi Penner, Soprano - Saturday, November 13, 2021 An early music Chamber Concert featuring soprano Jodi Penner and other local musicians will be held on November 13, 7 pm, at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Edmonton. The concert is free, but donations (cash and packaged/canned non-perishable food items) will be accepted for the Edmonton Foodbank. AB Health COVID protocols will be followed. Confirmation with Kokum4th Session Sunday, November 14, 1 pm Confirmation with Kokum will be led together by the Rev. Nick Trussell and Elisa Hillier. It is open to any baptised person seeking confirmation aged 10+. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about and explore the faith of our baptism through the Creeds and Scripture, as well as through Elisa’s teachings about the Four Directions and Seven Sacred teachings which have shaped her faith as an Indigenous follower of Jesus. The last gathering for teaching will be in person at St. Luke’s, November 14, at 1 pm. Masking and distancing are required for youth; vaccinations are required for those ages 12 and over. Centering Prayer Groups Invite Participation
You are invited to join one of several Centering Prayer Groups meeting in person or online. Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer; rather it casts a new light and depth of meaning on them. It is at the same time a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. This method of prayer is a movement beyond conversation with Christ to communion with him. "Truth, Reconciliation, and Residential Schools" Online Lecture SeriesFree, beginning November 14, 2 to 4 pm The Strathcona County Library is offering a three-part, online lecture series, led by Dr. Crystal Gail Fraser of the University of Alberta. Session 1, Nov 14: "Indian Residential School Histories in Canada" Session 2, Nov 21: "Lived Experiences and the Responses of Indigenous Students & Their Families to Indian Residential Schooling" Session 3, Nov 28: "Truth & Reconciliation in the Era of Unmarked Graves" This session will focus on the need for continued efforts for truth and reconciliation in Canada. We will discuss the TRC's 94 Calls to Action, 150 Acts of Reconciliation, and how you can make a tangible difference today. Dr. Fraser is Gwichyà Gwich'in and originally from Inuvik. RESTORE Virtual ConferenceNovember 19-20 Renovare Canada, a spiritual formation community, is hosting an online/virtual conference on November 19-20. The RESTORE conference will look through Scripture as we seek to understand that which shapes our call as Christians and the work of God in restoring humanity taken up by the church. Come and hear from our guest speakers as we cover such things as the solicitude of God and how this is to be taken up in our own lives, the wonder of creation and how to live well within the created order, and the practice of presence with God and with people. Preparing the Way Advent Evening Retreatwww.providencerenewal.ca Preparing the Way is an Advent Evening Retreat offered in Collaboration with the Edmonton & District Council of Churches on Tuesday, November 30, drop-in 5:30- 8:30 pm Spend an evening of prayer and reflection in our sacred spaces as we begin Advent, preparing our hearts for the Christmas season. You will be welcome to walk and pray the indoor labyrinth by candlelight, and to spend quiet prayer time in our chapel.
