Canon to the Ordinary Visits Communities of HTAC and St. Thomas"Our faith is always to be in motion rather than static, and no one goes alone on their spiritual journey; we are to travel together with others at every step." Canon to the Ordinary Scott Sharman recently visited Holy Trinity Old Strathcona in Edmonton and St. Thomas in Sherwood Park to share in worship and prayer with those communities by reflecting on what the scripture readings tell us about our vocation as fellow members and leaders of the Church of God in the Edmonton diocese.

St. Margaret's Authors Publish Novels Set in Rural SK and 1920s England
St. Margaret's, Edmonton authors, the Rev. Tim Chesterton and Norma Gutteridge, recently published paperback novels on Amazon. You can read a free preview of The Road to Meadowvale on Tim's website or read more about the author on Amazon. To purchase a book in Edmonton, email Tim at stmrector@gmail.com. St. Margaret's Anniversary VideoSt. Margaret's Celebrates 25 Years Since 1st Service in New Building On Sunday, February 27, St. Margaret's Anglican Church in Edmonton hosted a Zoom gathering to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first service in their church building at the corner of Ellerslie Road and 127 Street. The first service in the current St. Margaret's building was held on December 22, 1996. We had hoped to have an in-person celebration, but Covid-19 intervened. So we put together a slide presentation, using photographs beginning with the ground- breaking in 1996 and ending with the consecration of the building, after the mortgage had been paid off, in March 2004. The presentation includes greetings from the Rev. Ed McNeill, rector of St. Margaret's when the church was built, and Bishop Steve London. The slide presentation is narrated by Gary Hughes and the Rev. Tim Chesterton. Gary and Tim would like to stress that they did a good job, but not a perfect job (you'll see what they mean!). Enjoy! God's Love Makes Celebration of Recovery Possible
On Friday nights after the PrayerWorks supper at St. Faith’s Anglican Church in Edmonton, a Christ-centered support group led by Bliss Robinson and Don Halvorson gathers for a time of Christian worship, biblical learning and personal sharing. Celebrate Recovery is a national, 12-step recovery program based on the principles of the Beatitudes in the Gospel of Matthew. After worshipping together and reading the 8 principles and 12 steps, people divide into small groups for intimate and open sharing. “We all have stuff that we struggle with,” says Robinson, whose husband attended a Celebrate Recovery program with Halvorson at the Fort Road Victory Church in north Edmonton. She and Halvorson have developed a leadership team to facilitate the St. Faith’s Celebrate Recovery program which also includes an in-depth study of the 12 steps on Monday nights. “We explore how God uses his word to lead us out of our hurts and bad habits which put a strain on our relationships and cause us to struggle,” she says. “People often come here looking for answers and find all the answers they need are in Jesus. It makes all the difference when we know God loves us.” For more infomation visit: http://edmonton.anglican.ca/news/gods-love-makes-celebration-of-recovery-possible

Remembering the Children Travelling Weaving Project Invites Participation
A travelling weaving project in memory of children who died at residential schools in Canada began at Christ Church on Ash Wednesday. This project, facilitated by the diocesan Indigenous Ministries Team with guidance from Alison Hurlburt, a licensed lay evangelist and member of Christ Church in Edmonton, is an opportunity for people to pray, repent and reflect while weaving together. Alison says no prior experience with weaving is needed. “It’s very simple. Beginners can weave a line in as little as 15 minutes,” she says. “This isn’t about being a skilled craftsperson. It is an opportunity to make community art in recognition and remembrance of something that is and should be deeply felt.” To find out where and when you can catch up with the travelling loom, follow @rememberthechildren.dioedm on Instagram. Alison and Fiona will update the account with pictures as the project progresses. “We’re hoping this project unfolds organically,” says Alison. “It’s for anyone who has a heart for and an interest in sitting and praying with us and remembering all of these beautiful lives that were lost.” For more infomation visit:

Discernment: Navigating the WayProvidence Renewal Centre Discernment is a gift and an art by which we make both daily and major life-changing choices. Through prayer and practice we can better attune ourselves to the invitation and guidance of the Spirit. We can then not simply make more healthy decisions but find more grace-filled rhythms to live in relationship to others, ourselves, the world, and the Divine. This three-part workshop with Faith Nostbakken will offer ways to understand and enter more deeply into discernment as an intention, a process, and a way of life. Mondays: March 14, 21, and 28 from 7:00-9:00 pm. Cost: $85.00. For more infomation visit: https://providencerenewal.ca/tc-events/discernment-navigating-the-way-event-14633/

Clergy ResilienceManaging Stress and Restoring Self Caring for others, responding to others, and coping with conflict and change on a continual basis is always part of the ministry of clergy. It can take its toll - especially in the context of a pandemic that has resulted in isolation, grief and loss, financial stress, and for some, despair. We believe that resilience arises and develops when self-awareness, self-care, and community and spiritual renewal are actively engaged. This 3-day workshop, to be held May 1-4, will provide a resilience development program with opportunity to reflect, interact with others, and to be seen, heard, and understood. The retreat is led by three skilled professionals: Marv Westwood, David Kuhl and Lin Langley. For more infomation visit: https://www.sorrentocentre.ca/events/developing-resilience-and-restoring-self
